In April 2010, the law firm obtained a final judgment for $103,000 as a result of obtaining a favorable jury verdict. Our client had offered $50,000 to settle an injury claim that was rejected. The case proceeded to a jury trial where the Plaintiff asked the jury to award $750,000. We asked to the jury to award $8,000; what we believed to be a reasonable value for the case. The jury agreed with us and only awarded $8,000, which was reduced post-verdict to zero. After a lengthy appeal and a fight over the validity of our proposal for settlement, our client was the prevailing party and was awarded $103,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs.
